"Three Horse Race"

“Three Horse Race” or so they say! Manchester United in arguably their worst 30 games in the Premier League era under Sir Alex Ferguson and yet they sit five points clear at the summit with 8 games remaining. Rivals Chelsea and Arsenal wait should I say Arsenal (58) and Chelsea (54) have 9 games to go. In order for Chelsea to indeed pull off a miraculous 9 game winning streak they would deserve the league title but since the inception of the English Premier League they have never, I repeat never won nine games in a row not even under the “special one”. So case and point, no it is not a “Three Horse Race” and I struggle to see it as a “Two Horse Race” either, but as Sir Alex always says the league isn’t won in March and mathematically or more realistically Arsene Wenger's side pose the greatest test to United surpassing Liverpool’s 18 League Titles. If The Gunners keep gifting teams goals against them and if RVP & Cesc don’t play at least 8 of their remaining fixtures I do f

Super Rugby Round 5

I like the way Supersports Super Wrap puts it "Many Boks and not alot of Spring". I must admit the Blue Bulls find themselves in a mighty deep hole and to be honest it’s through their own doing. Two weeks ago I said and I quote "Too many Springboks in the Bulls setup..." but I'm beginning to think it’s the Springboks that’s their achilles heel. Let me explain my last two statements, the Bulls are playing the old springbok 'game plan' that won them (the Boks) two World Cups. Kick for position and work up front from there and as Saturday would show you is that the Stormers took full advantage of being, in my opinion being given the balls over and over and over again and the worst part for the Bulls is they KEPT AT IT even though they could see that it was not working. The Bulls have now lost two on the trot and there Vodacom Cup team have lost their first FOUR fixtures, so the problems in Pretoria run deep (pardon the pun). Not to mention Gurthro Steen

Super Rugby Round 4

Ever heard the saying a specific "sports" a funny game. Soccer’s' a funny game! Well Rugby’s' a funny game, as for my predictions, turns out it was totally against the form book, that’s why I don’t gamble ..... I Blog!!!!!!! The DHL Stormers showed you can win SuperRugby matches with robust defense and a reliable place kicker. Three wins and one bye (which constitutes 4 points) and the Stormers have had their best start in SuperRugby ever. What will concern Allister Coetzee is that they might be fourth on the Combined Log and second in their Conference, the Cape side has only registered 1 try this season. When you look at the leading try scorers thus far the Waratahs' have scored 14 times, Sharks 13, Crusaders,  Lions and Chiefs 11 tries, even bottom of the log Cheetahs have scored 4 tries (granted they've conceded 7 and the Stormers only 2). They might boast the meanest defense but they will have to increase the times they cross the white line especially

Choked

The enthusiasm of the Indian fans to get tickets for the much anticipated match vs. South Africa  is heart warming , unfortunately their country just or stadiums just cant handle the demand. My focus today though is solely       Eng vs. Sa Sun 6/3/2011. Choking is the mechanical obstruction of the flow of air from the environment into the lungs . In cricket it’s mostly associated with the South African (Proteas). Having bundled England out on a deteriorating bowler friendly pitch for only 171, you would excuse me for believing a comfortable win would be inevitable since the Proteas bat well into their tail. That looked all the more  likely with a bright opening partnership between Amla (42)and Smith(22) of 63 and even after they both lost their and Kallis(15) wickets South Africa was still well placed at 124/3 after 32 overs. That’s requiring 48 from 108 balls (18 overs), and on that bowler friendly pitch they lost their last 7 wickets for 42 runs. What baffles me is the shot select

First Official Post

Well I never thought I’d start my blog on back to back Manchester United losses in an already tight title race but heck at least they still top of the English Premier League (ONLY JUST). An absolute shocker of a performance by, a granted depleated, Manchester Unite d defense and a as staunch Manchester United supporer it is hard to take. Plaudits to Luis Suarez and that fantastic dutchman Dirk Kuyt for taking full advantage of United’s weakness. Thats infact what we’ve come to expect from Kuyt in a liverpool shirt but Ive just got to mention Suarez performance, particularily his run in the 18 yard area for Kuyt’s 1st, his energy and his vision must leave Liverpool supporters licking there lips for the next season especially as he and Andy look a match made in heaven. Well done to Liverpool  as only three teams defeated the would-be champions this term and as for a fourth place finish well they’d need 9 more performances like yesterday and results to go their way, good luck to them.
